The Johan Deumens Gallery was originally established in 1989.
Our office is located at the Gabriel Metsustraat 8, opposite the Stedelijk Museum. The gallery represents the work of both established and emerging artists, and the exquisite program of serial works, published by Edition Jacob Samuel.
In our general program we concentrate on a conceptual and research oriented artistic approach
From the 24th of September to the 3rd of October 2010 the Madness & Arts Festival will focus on the encounter of madness with arts. Is there a correlation between madness and arts? How do artists acknowledge madness and how does their work influence the way we think about people with psychological disturbances? For ten days, the festival explores these questions within a comprehensive multidisciplinary programme including theatre, dance, film, music, visual arts, literature and poetry. The public meeting (symposium) and the educational programme open up “madness” for discussion.
The gallery participates in this festival and will show work by Robin Waart.
The Gallery will participate in The London Art Book Fair at the Whitechapel Gallery in London. This is an annual event hosted by the Whitechapel Gallery in association with Marcus Campbell Art Books. The London Art Book Fair will present the work of 90 international arts publishing houses, galleries, magazines, colleges, rare book dealers and distributors alongside a wider associated programme of talks and events.
